PRIOPĆENJE -Great news from the Zero Waste Croatia network of municipalities! Today in Prelog, north of Croatia, three new municipalities signed the official Zero Waste strategy and entered the Zero Waste Europe network of municipalities with best practices in Europe. They joined other 9 municipalities in the successful system run by the municipal company PRE-KOM, which is the sustainable waste management national leader in Croatia with the best results in reduction, separate collection, recycling and composting.
PRIOPĆENJE -The first Croatian RE-USE center has opened in Prelog yesterday. Discarded objects will revive in the center rather than end up in the landfill. This way Prelog and the surrounding region complement the chain of a complete system that has been successfully developed over the last few years according to the recommendations of the Zelena akcija / Zero Waste Croatia. Additionally, the new two municipalities (Belica and Dekanovec) signed a 'Zero Waste' strategy, adopting ambitious targets for separation, recycling and composting and rejecting harmful waste incineration.
PRIOPĆENJE -Zero waste concept is both possible and feasible and brings many benefits to cities and municipalities, as evidenced by the excellent results of seven Croatian municipalities that acquired the status of Europe's best practices gathered by the Zero Waste Europe network last year. Zelena Akcija / Friends of the Earth Croatia is proud to contribute to their success as a national coordinator of the Zero Waste Europe Network and therefore we bring a brief overview of their work and progress in the past year and also invite other cities and municipalities to join them.
PRIOPĆENJE -Yesterday (April 24th) in Ljubljana Friends of the Earth Croatia became a member of Zero Waste Europe, network that brings together national associations most actively working on the implementation of environmental waste management systems and assists in the activities of more than 300 cities and municipalities that have adopted the Zero Waste Strategy.
PRIOPĆENJE -Representatives of the city of Prelog and six surrounding municipalities today signed the European “Zero Waste 2020” strategy at a conference in Prelog organised by NGO Zelena akcija / Friends of the Earth Croatia and the communal waste company PRE-KOM. By signing the strategy, the local authorities – which are already leaders in sustainable waste management in Croatia – have committed to meet the ambitious goal of 70% separately collected waste by 2020.
